mjc

The Mellow Johnny Classic is over.
I would say it was a good weekend for us Smithville folks.

Kara won her race in style.

Kailey did the same in her race.

I didn't crash, managed to fight heat stroke off until after the race, came in 12th.
I started the race on Sunday but decided to pull the plug after i started cramping on mile 2.
we have some pretty cool pictures from the start of the pro xct race, waiting to start behind all the super fast guys, i don't know how to get them from the camera to my computer. maybe someday.
Thanks everybody for all the support

So Ive been doing a little bike racing lately. when i last posted i had just done fort davis, after that was the Solavaca Cat Claw Clasic, my first mountain bike race since turned my spine into a pretzel. it went well, i liked the trail it was twisty and relatively smooth so my back felt fine. i had a pretty bad start but moved up Thru the first lap to 5th and pretty much rode in that spot until the end.
The next weekend was two races that Sun and Ski gives a lot of support to the Coldsprings road race on Saturday and The big Ring Challenge on Sunday both out in the Houston area so i decided to do both.
the road race was nice, i like the loop it goes on it has some pretty nice little hills, i found myself in a chase group pretty out numbed on the last lap and had to kill myself to try and keep the leaders in sight, the sprint did not go well. i got 13th.
i defied conformity the next day at the big ring challenge by riding the whole race in the middle ring, also i crashed three times. i rode fast tho and got 2nd place.
Rocky hill comes next then Mellow Johny's
i just hit my funny bone on the chair im sitting in. its never funny

FortDavis

I raced the Fort Davis stage race last weekend. The race went better than i had anticipated, i think i got 14th in the hill climb, slow in the TT and 10th in the road race; which put me at 11th in the GC. it was cool to get to see the old crowd again, it feels like its been a long time since i did a road race like this where you get to see people and socialize. much fun.
I was lacking a team issue clown suit for the time trial so i rocked one i had from back in tha day.

the one picture i could find from the weekend is me getting passed, at least I'm smiling.

I'm registered for my first bike race since i broke myself, its a road race in manor i think.
My goal is to finish the race and win the hairy leg competition.
I would shave the leg warmers off but i cant bent that far yet so don't be so judgmental, gosh.

....

Alright so i was planning on racing the comfort marathon and a few road races as training for the Tmbra spring series BUT...

I was the driver of this ohhh so f'd up truck. my body made it out in better condition than the truck with only a fractured vertebrae, 2 sprained ankles and a cut on my neck from the seat belt.
I spent a weekend on the 9th floor of Breckenridge hospital hanging out with the nursing staff, defiantly the best looking group of nurses Ive ever seen, and now Ive got a month of movie watching, no heavy lifting or bending of the back and after that i should be able to ride a bike again.

I feel like an ice cube, my fingers don't want to type but I'm telling them that they must. it was cold today and for some reason i rode my bike in the coldness, I'll live i think.
i raced the excruciation exam last Saturday. it was fun. iiii got second, 12 minutes behind the winner, ouch. i rode the last 50 mile solo that was cool, made me feel like a bad ass.

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas! I'm late but its the thought that counts right? I'm sitting on the computer down in Corpus Cristi at my grandmothers house, I'm not super into the movie their watching so i decided to type some words. uhh.. i did i ride on the beach yesterday that was nice, its like reflex training when you have to dodge all the jelly fish corpse's in the sand. I've decided to race the Excruciation Exam and i think it may kill me but who knows maybe ill do good.

uhhh

Haven't paid to much attention to the site lately so here's a random post for all the bored people out there, i call it 3 things awesome about Smithville

1) The movie Hope Floats was filmed in Smithville, and was released at theaters across the nation on May 29, 1998. I still haven't watched this but it must have been good.

2) On December 2ND 2006, at the annual Festival of Lights, Smithville broke the Guinness Book of world records, record for the biggest gingerbread man ever, measuring over 26 feet. Cause everyone loves big food.

3) The late DJ Screw, Pioneer of Screw music, the style of dirty south hip hop known for its pitched-down lyrics and chopped-up beats was Born in Smithville. I'm working on getting the name Smithville officially changed to Screwville.

Wow when i put it all together it makes me think maybe this place isn't that bad after all

One thing i have noticed since I've been back in Smithville is the insane amount of no trespassing signs i see while riding my bike out in the sticks. i can understand not wanting anyone to come on you land but don't you think the 6 no trespassing, 3 private property, and 2 beware of dog signs might be a bit of overkill? i think some of the people out here just need to relax a little no ones coming to dig up your guns.

off

Whats Up with Tristan?
Well right now I'm in the final leg of my off season, usually during my off season i try not to touch a bike for about 2 weeks but that all went out the window when my car was rammed by a teenage driver. now i have a black eye but thats from a non car crash related freak head butting accident.
More latter when I'm doing interesting things.

Q & A

Q: isn't that a picture of that guy who won that race in France like 12 times or something?
A: ya, something like that.
Q: isn't he coming out of retirement so he can win it a few more times?
A: no, actually he's coming out of retirement so he can race out at rockin' hill on Sunday.

picturegraph

I must not be very photogenic because it seems like every time i look at pictures from races i can find pictures of everyone but myself, its sad. i started the race this weekend with the idea that it would be smart to get into the single track first and it paid off, people were forced to take my picture.

People probably don't take my picture because they know I'm just gonna steal um like i did with this picture taken by Rudy, i cant stop.

?

its weird but the only logical way that i can come up with for the reason the trails out at lake Bryan were made the way they were is, the people making the trail decided it would be a cool and easy idea to just dump a bucket of paint on a cow and let it walk around running into trees and thus marking the trees for where the trail would go. normally this would work just fine people make trails that follow cow paths all the time but what i think happened that ruined everything is somehow the cow got into their alcohol supply before he was sent out, so he was completely sloshed the whole time he was making the future race course. Its just a guess but it explains everything so wonderfully
